GEORGE J. STERLING, CPA

George founded the company in 2008. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

With a strong business and tax background, George brings his expertise in a wide array of accounting and business advisory services. His areas of focus include cost accounting, tax preparation, budgeting, business plan development, operations management, purchasing, health and safety compliance, and workers’ compensation administration. 

George was also an adjunct Instructor at Waubonsee Community College, and an instructor of Volunteered Tax Preparers and financial aid coach at the Center for Economic Progress for over eight years. He and his wife, Therese managed the Aurora VITA site as well. George volunteers his time with numerous professional, civic, and non-for-profit organizations. 

George is a registered certified public accountant in Illinois. He is also an Enrolled Agent and as a federally authorized tax practitioner, can represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service for tax issues.

JOANNA WITAS LOW, CPA

 Joanna joined the company in 2020. She graduated from Rider University in New Jersey, with a Master of Accountancy degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Her areas of focus include preparing federal and state income tax returns for individual and business clients, tax planning, and financial statement preparation. Joanna also provides general accounting services and bookkeeping assistance with QuickBooks, payroll, multi-state sales tax, and helps clients with business formation and registration services.

Prior to joining George Sterling CPA, Joanna worked as an Accounting Manager for a public accounting firm in Saint Charles, IL, and previously as a Senior Accountant for Certified Public Accountants and Advisors in Princeton, NJ, providing accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services to a diverse client base. In addition, Joanna is also fluent in Polish.

Joanna is a registered certified public accountant in Illinois and New Jersey. She is a member of the Illinois CPA Society's Women's Executive Committee, and is currently pursuing a certification in financial forensics.
